About

Soup Quest is an Indies Games Academy Level 3 GameJam project by Cohort 6's Team Monk! Play as the brave little mouse Juniper as she gathers ingredients for soup in the forest all while avoiding a terrifying beast that stalks the woods!

Soup Quest is a GameJam project, so development started and finished within one weekend, with a very simple scope but lovingly crafted by the entire team.

Features

- Explore a set of crafted mini-levels.

- Run and jump to avoid various hazards.

- Carry various ingredient collectibles to the soup pot in the middle of the stage!

- Avoid the forest monster Jynn as it constantly chases you throughout the game!

- Movement: WASD

- Jump (You can double jump!): Spacebar

- ESC: Opens menu

11/12 Deploy

- Life system fully implemented.

- Easy, normal, and hard mode system added.

- Map system added.

- Skip cutscene function added.

- Jump can be held to jump higher.

- Auto select button added on Menu

- UI input accepts spacebar and d-pad navigation.

- Run particle trail added for Juniper

- Added a bobbing animation to ingredients to allow it to capture player's attention.

- Various adjustments to UI and game text.

- General stability improvements and fixes.

11/8 Deploy

- Juniper will now respawn instead of going to a game over screen upon being hit (Juniper has three lives). Player will spawn at the beginning or at the soup pot when they discover it.

- Escape menu settings are fixed

- Jynn can now jump to avoid getting stuck

- Tutorial text has been added

- Jynn spawns farther away until completion of the tutorial

- General stability improvements and fixes.
